The Alpha Challenge isn’t just a race, it’s Brunei’s ultimate obstacle adventure. Since 2017, hundreds of people have pushed their limits, tackled crazy obstacles, and tested their strength, endurance, and grit.

2017 - THE BEGINNING
The very first Alpha Challenge was held on 31st December 2017 at Berakas Forest Reserve. Over 500 participants signed up for two categories: a 2KM Fun Run with 8 obstacles and a 5KM obstacle course race, marking the birth of a new fitness movement in Brunei.
2018 - REACHING NEW HEIGHTS
On 25th November 2018, the second edition took place at the Royal Brunei Air Force Base in Rimba, in collaboration with the RBAF. With an ambitious target of 3,000 participants, this edition introduced the first-ever 10KM obstacle course race in Brunei, setting the stage for more advanced and challenging obstacle designs.
2019 - THE FIRST BEACH EDITION
In 2019, Alpha Challenge once again partnered with the Royal Brunei Air Force. Over 2,000 participants took on Brunei’s first beach obstacle course race at Tungku Beach. This new setting tested participants with the added challenge of sand, surf, and a tougher natural environment.
2020 - THE LEGEND OF THE HUNTERS
In response to demand, Alpha Challenge returned to the Berakas Forest Reserve. This edition introduced the Legend of The Hunters series, combining both a virtual hike and a physical obstacle course race. Those who completed both earned the coveted Bi-Factor Medal.
2021 - THE TRIPHA SERIES
Back with full force, the Tripha Series was launched with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. The series was designed to unfold in three stages:
- Sentinel Challenge (3KM Fun Run & 5KM Sprint) – July 2021, Taman Rekreasi Jalan Menteri Besar
- Beta Challenge (10KM) – October 2021
- Alpha Challenge (21KM) – December 2021 (unfortunately cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic)
Although the 21KM edition could not take place, it remains a core part of our vision, a pinnacle challenge we aim to bring back in future series for those ready to push their endurance to the ultimate limit.
2022 - THE COMEBACK
On 11 December 2022, the Alpha Challenge returned with the Beta & Omega Challenge, held as part of the Brunei December Festival. Over 1,800 participants joined the 10KM Competitive Beta Challenge and the 5.7KM Fun Run Omega Challenge, bringing back a long-awaited competitive category for athletic enthusiasts, open to both solo participants and teams.
The atmosphere was electric as participants battled obstacles, pushed their limits, and celebrated the thrill of competition together.
2023 - 7TH INSTALMENT
Brunei’s leading obstacle challenge was back for its 7th instalment on 3 December 2023 at Berakas Recreational Forest Reserve.
Over 1,300 participants took on three exciting categories: Fun Run (3.2KM / 5 obstacles), Omega Challenge (4.5KM / 8 obstacles), and Sentinel Sprint (6.6KM / 12 obstacles), conquering 7 new obstacles along the way.
The Alpha Challenge Lucky Draw returned with BND 10,000 in prizes, including the Grand Prize: two free air tickets to Bangkok!
2024 - 8TH ALPHA CHALLENGE: CONQUER THE INFINITY
The 8th Alpha Challenge hit National Stadium Hassanal Bolkiah, Berakas on 24 November 2024, bringing together runners and fitness enthusiasts for a day of sweat, grit, and pure adrenaline.
Participants tackled three main categories: YASKA Fun Run (3KM), Omega Challenge (5KM), and Beta Challenge (10KM). For those chasing extra endurance, the Infinity Loop gave Beta runners an added challenge, one more lap to push limits even further.
The day also celebrated community spirit, with donations presented to Yayasan Kanak-Kanak Kanser (YASKA), including BND$25,000 from D’Sunlit Sdn Bhd. Competitive runners battled for top spots and cash prizes up to BND$17,000, while everyone else soaked in the thrill, camaraderie, and raw challenge of the course.
The 8th Alpha Challenge was all about pushing boundaries, testing stamina, and enjoying every grueling, unforgettable moment.
